I hope you are all raring to go after the summer break. If you have had time off, September is always a great month to get back on track.
Autumn is looking good with our classes and PT Pilates almost fully booked. It is encouraging to see that so many people are enjoying the benefits of Pilates.
Over the summer, I attended a fascial release course for movement professionals. It was really interesting and I do believe this is the key to better movement.I will be holding fascial release workshops over the coming months. The first workshop takes place on Friday 8th September. This date sold out quickly, but a new date will be announced soon. If you would like to register your interest, do get in touch.
Last month I also attended the Spine Safe Pilates update course. It is good to refresh on this subject, as so many people come to our classes for the rehabilitation benefits of Pilates. Whilst Pilates is a great form of exercise, It is important to recognise which exercises are good for certain spinal conditions and which may cause more harm. Not all Pilates classes are appropriate for those with spinal conditions. I am proud that we teach Spine Safe Pilates.
Later this month, I am gearing up to go on the Spine Safe Pilates reformer course. I have been desperate to do this course for so long. I have really felt the benefit of using the reformer as part of my own Pilates training.
The Pilates reformer was created by Joseph Pilates to rehabilitate injured soldiers during the war. So.. what on earth is a Pilates reformer, I hear you ask?The reformer is a bed like frame with a flat platform called a carriage. At the end the carriage is attached to a series of springs for different levels of resistance. It is a really versatile piece of equipment and is suitable for all levels. Once up and running, I will be offering 1:1 Pilates reformer training. Exciting times… watch this space for more details soon.
High Flyer - Nev Livesey
After years of suffering with back and knee issues, Nev came to our Pilates classes after recommendation from his Physiotherapist. Over the months I have watched his posture, movement and strength improve. A shining example of what can be achieved.
Well done Nev!
